Sol Plaatjie Local Municipality will provide the recent graduates with experiential training that will result in the development of their technical knowledge. The focus is on training to become registered professionals with the respective professional bodies. The interns will be trained by Sol Plaatje Local Municipality for the duration of the contract. Candidates may apply for vacant posts as qualified professionals on completion of the training.
The interns will receive the following fixed stipends per annum with no additional benefits:

Minimum Requirements

| Technicians | National Diploma (Civil /Electrical Engineering) |
| Town Planner | National Diploma [Town Planning (2 years completed)] |
| Property Developer | Property Development/Management or Legal qualification. Knowledge of property transactions. |
| Building Controllers | National Diploma (Building Management) |
| Fitter and Turners | N2 certificate With the relevant Trade Theory |
A Code 08/EB driver’s licence is preferred.
Key skills and knowledge: ● Results-driven ● Team player ● Customer-focused ● Knowledge of engineering principles With the ability to apply this knowledge ● The ability to communicate well at all levels ● The ability to plan and organise workload effectively to enhance performance.
Key responsibilities: ● during the training ● Engineering Interns will be expected to successfully demonstrate all proficiencies as determined by the respective professional bodies for the graduate development programme in the respective disciplines.
Preference will be given to applicants who permanently reside in the Frances Baard District Area ● The programme is restricted to South African citizens only. An appointment will also be made in the context of the Employment Equity Act.
The programme is strictly for unemployed graduates.
