This course aims at equipping participants with professional knowledge and skills to enable them care for children and give them a better start to life. Graduate of this programme shall work with children from birth through age 6 in the day care centres and at home. The learner will learn how to create a nurturing, safe environment where every child thrives. They will study how children develop and plan age-appropriate activities that foster their development. It will thus develop capacity in child care at home, day care centres, pre-school, or primary school level.

Programme details:The programme consists of 9 core (required) modules. The number at the end of the module in parenthesis indicates the credit load of the module. 1 credit is equal to 10 hours of learning (guided, in-class and independent combined); therefore a 10-credit module requires on average 100 hours of learning from the student.

Admission Criteria:
Applicants should be:Junior Secondary school leaving certificate such as JCE or equivalent. Mature Age entry criteria: Candidates above 25 years with at least 5 years of work experience, of which at least 2 years must be at Level 3 equivalent may be considered under mature entry criteria.
