ABOUT THE COMPANY – DRDLR

The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform (DRDLR), established in 2009, is a department of the South African government. The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform is responsible for the department. The DRDLR are responsible for land reform; deeds registration; cadastral surveying and topographic mapping.

The Department’s mission is to initiate, as well as facilitate, coordinate and implement rural development programmes.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & COVERAGE VALUE

The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform will be awarding bursaries within the following fields of study:

  • Land Surveying/ Geomatics (BSc)
  • Town and Regional Planning/ Urban Design (BSc)
  • Geo-Informatics/ Geographic Information Science (BSc/ BA)
  • Surveying/ Cartography (National Diploma)
  • Town and Regional Planning (National Diploma)

 

The bursary award will cover the following expenses: tuition fees, registration fees, textbooks, meals, accommodation and a living allowance.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted – if you have not received any feedback by 31 December 2018, regard your application as unsuccessful.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
  • Studying or planning to study full-time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • BSc in Land Surveying/ Geomatics students: passed Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric
  • BSc in Town and Regional Planning/ Urban Design students: passed Mathematics, Geography and/or Physical Science in Matric
  • BSc/BA in Geo-Informatics/ Geographic Information Science students: passed Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric
  • National Diploma in Surveying/ Cartography students: passed Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric
  • National Diploma in Town and Regional Planning students: passed Mathematics and/or Physical Science and Geography in Matric

Students who meet the above eligibility criteria may apply by submitting clear copies of the following supporting documentation (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric latest results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
  • Curriculum Vitae with contact details
  • University/ University of Technology acceptance letter
  • Full academic record if currently studying (certified copy)
