New Capitol Cinemas Botswana

New Capitol Cinemas is Botswana’s first and only fully Digital Cinemas, featuring state of the art 3D and 2D projection technologies with fully immersive Dolby Digital Surround Sound.

New Capitol Cinemas Acacia is the newest of addition to the movie theatres in Gabs. It’s located at Acacia Mall which is a shopping centre in the northern part of Phakalane.

New Capitol Cinemas has four auditoriums. Two are called the Dolby Deluxe and the other two are the Platinum Cinema Experience.

The platinum experience movie halls are the first cinemas in Botswana to have reclining seats. Yup, they’re very cool. Plus they also have a pull-out table. It should feel like you’re flying first class for the duration of the movie.

The Acacia Mall branch is a fantastic place to take time out and go to the movies as a family. It’s got a nook where kids can play before your movie starts. It also has its own restaurant on site where you can order anything from burgers to wraps to pizzas. #DineRelaxEnjoy

The History of New Capitol Cinemas

New Capitol Cinemas is a Botswana brand that opened its first branch in 1970 in Main Mall. It was a small and much-loved space for families. Most of the Mums and Dads in Gabs first big-screen experience was there.

Blockbusters

New Capitol Cinemas brings in all international blockbusters to Gaborone. Whether it’s a good old Hollywood romance or a Marvel superhero movie you can watch the films first with New Capitol.

Supporting Local

New Capitol Cinemas supports local talent. They support the 48 Film Project. The winner gets to showcase their short film before a major a Hollywood blockbuster.

New Capitol Cinemas also helps subsidize local film schools by offering on-screen opportunities for students. As well as local productions.

Who doesn’t like a bargain? Here are two ways you can watch the latest films a little cheaper.

You can enjoy all the latest movies at half the price of a usual general ticket on Monday to Thursday mornings. This is available for all movies except the ones on their opening week. Please note this is not available at Masa.

They also have an “I love movies Thursdays Special” at Acacia. You get two tickets for the price of one for all shows after 1 pm.

Exclusive Screenings

New Capitol Cinemas also offers exclusive screenings and pre-screenings. If you’re a company looking for a way to treat your VIPs this could be it.
