SANSA: Satellite Operation Technicians In-Service Traineeship

SANSA Space Operations is a Directorate of South African National Space Agency situated at Pretoria. SANSA Space Operations, located at Hartebeeshoek, is the primary driver for SANSA’s state-of-the-art ground station facilities and services, including tracking, telemetry and communications activities, launch support, in-orbit testing, mission control and space navigation. This entity has the following contract vacancies to be filled by enthusiastic, hardworking individuals with the relevant skills, competencies and qualifications.

The intern(s) in this role will be exposed to rendering TT|C (Tracking, Telemetry and Command) support services and satellite monitoring services to a host of international space agencies and satellite operators.

The successful candidates will: • Operate, maintain and /or monitor Radio Frequency (RF) and electronic equipment associated with satellite operations • Participate in TT|C operations which involves the rendering of ground segment services to SLV’s (Satellite launch vehicles) • Transfer-orbit operations, LEOP (launch and early-orbit operations)international clients • Keep abreast of the operational system and equipment functionality, status and redundant capabilities • Keep abreast of the operational system and equipment functionality, status and redundant capabilities.

The ideal candidates will have the following requirements: • N6 / S4 Engineering qualification with RF • Electronic or Electrical Satellite Technology course work with good academic results • In search of Field service training • Understanding of microwave principles, applications and telecommunications • Proficient in English language and good communication skills • Have a valid driver’s licence.

Background verification, including criminal record, credit checks, security clearances, qualification and citizenship checks, as well as competency assessment and psychometric testing, will form part of the selection process.
