ABOUT CRNSA

The Child Rights Network for Southern Africa (CRNSA) was established in 2012 and was then registered in South Africa in 2015. The vision of the Network is ‘A Southern Africa where children’s rights are respected, protected and fulfilled.’ For this vision to be realised, the network promotes practices and policies that fulfil children and adolescents’ rights and welfare through national child rights networks in the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) member states. CRNSA also engages with regional and international institutions such as the SADC economic building block and the African Union (AU) through frameworks and structures such as the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child plus the Committee therein, and the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child for improved quality of life for children.

CRNSA offices are headquartered in Pretoria, South Africa and works eleven national child rights networks in 11 SADC countries. The eleven networks represent some 2000 child rights organisations in southern Africa. CRNSA is also the secretariat and convener of the Civil Society Forum on the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (CSO Forum-ACRWC). This role therefore supports the growth, influence and advocacy capacity of CRNSA as the only regional child rights governance network in Southern Africa.

1. FINANCE MANAGER

The Finance Manager at CRNSA will play a key role in the organization’s strategic financial decision-making and fiduciary responsibilities.

Core Responsibilities of the Finance Manager

  1. Oversees the financial operations of CRNSA, aligned to organizational Policies/strategies
  2. Provides leadership in financial management duties such as budgeting, disbursing and accounting for donor funds. Oversee service providers’ payments within budgets and ensuring that budgets are balanced and financial matters are met
  3. Manages all aspects of financial risk for CRNSA, reviewing financial documents to ensure tax-compliance and collaboration with the Programmes department to achieve the financial goal
  4. Develops and implements financial systems to facilitate efficiency and effectiveness of the organization
  5. In alignment with the CRNSA Financial and Procurement Procedures Manuals as well as Agreements with partners, ensures compliance with regulatory and funder requirements; ensuring prudent financial practices and monitoring and enforcing compliance with finance-related laws (statutory obligations towards staff and audits plus annual returns), procedures and regulations such as tax filing and financial reporting.
  6. Leads an effective financial management infrastructure to ensure alignment between financial goals and strategic priorities, and the sustained financial health of CRNSA, including advising on investment plans or resource mobilisation, monitoring finances and producing financial reports.

Minimum Requirements

Education / Qualifications and knowledge

  • University degree in Finance, accounting or a related field.
  • Relevant competency certificates (such Chartered Financial Analyst) or a master’s degree will be an added advantage

Experience

  • 3-5 years or more in a similar role and in an INGO/NGO.
  • Previous work experience in another financial role, such as an Accountant or Financial Analyst. Management accounting and analysis experience.
  • Exposure and experience in computerised accounting and financial reporting such as accounting softwares, statistical analysis tools and other industry-specific prediction applications.
  • Good understanding of accounting concepts, financial reporting standards and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations and industry legislation

2. INFORMATION, COMMUNICATIONS & TECHNOLOGY (ICT) OFFICER

The Information, Communications and Technology Officer will support CRNSA’s programmes and generally supports the organisation’s visibility and presence online. The  Programs Manager will be responsible for program development and management in alignemen with the organizational strategic plan; communications with members -CSOs and children as well as allies on children’s issues promoting the respect, protection and fulfilment of children’s rights, ensuring that child participation, equity, inclusion and child safeguarding principles are adhered to at all times as well as positioning CRNSA through various initiatives and media platforms.  The candidate will join a team focused on contributing to a SADC and Africa fit for children.

The role will include management of employees and executive engagement as part of the senior management team; development of communications and messaging; content creation and partnerships. The ideal candidate will have experience in both human rights, social policy and social development as well as corporate communications.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Manages the IT and communication equipment to ensure that it is used effectively within the programme- providing ICT hardwares and softwares to support work delivery
  2. Leads CRNSA’s visibility and presence online – website, social media platforms (YouTube, Twitter, Facebook) and update platforms.
  3. Troubleshoot problems on the network or server and maintain assets in good working order through budgeting, procurement and tracking
  4. Provides advice and guidance on ICT issues to the rest of the team
  5. Provides appropriate ICT and communication equipment training to staff such as office applications, email and internet use, passwords, back ups and software or apllications installation
  6. Ensures that CRNSA’s (and the ACRWC CSO Forum) data and information is secure
  7. Enforce and advice on development if applicable of policies on organizational security and data
  8. Supports team members with external communication, including consistency in messaging and all supporting materials and support the delivery of CRNSA’s digital communications, facilitating dissemination of the network’s success stories to all stakeholders through various platforms (examples include websites, Twitter, YouTube, newsletters, emails, fact sheets, videos, presentations and social posts that adhere to CRNSA’s voice and its branding standards).
  9. Supports CRNSA’s members – profiling their work on agreed priority areas
