ABOUT THE COMPANY – ANGLO AMERICAN COAL

Anglo American is one of the largest mining companies in the world, operating in five continents, mining thermal and metallurgical coal; iron ore and manganese; precious metals and minerals; and base metals and minerals.

COAL is a division of the Anglo American group and is the third-largest exporter of metallurgical coal in the world. COAL operates in Australia, Colombia, Canada and South Africa, where they supply the domestic and export energy markets.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME

Anglo Thermal Coal bursary is a full coverage bursary and will be awarded within the following Mining related fields of study:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Mining Engineering (specializing in Rock Engineering)
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Mineral Surveying
  • Geology
  • Environmental Science

 

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to attend 2 interviews – if you have not received any feedback by 30 September 2019 at the latest, please regard your application as unsuccessful.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study (1st/ 2nd/ 3rd year)
  • Studying or intend on studying at a recognised University or the University of Technology in South Africa
  • Engineering/ Geology/ Science degrees students: must have achieved a minimum B symbol for Mathematics and Science in Matric
  • Accounting students: must have achieved a minimum C symbol for Mathematics in Matric
  • In financial need and requiring practical experience
  • *Preference will be given to students from Mpumalanga province

You will be required to submit copies of the following supporting documentation – if you are applying online: these documents must be uploaded to your online profile if you are applying with the application form: you must attach copies of the documents and not originals (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Grade 11 final results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
  • Full academic record to date, current tertiary students (certified copy)
  • Proof of admission into a tertiary institution
  • Details of academic or other activity in which you have excelled (at school/ university)
