University of Otago International Student Enrolment and Orientation

MBA Exchange Summer School, 2019: International Student enrolment and orientation seminar

On your arrival at the University of Otago, you are required to attend an enrolment and orientation seminar. The enrolment and orientation seminar will take place on Monday 21 January at 5pm in the Business School, room 1.08. 
You MUST bring your original passport and your visa to the seminar.

  • If you have an electronic visa, please bring a printed copy of this visa.
  • For students from a visa waiver country, please just bring your original passport. Staff at Otago will check your visa status directly with Immigration New Zealand.

For those of you who are starting later courses, please email Louisa Samson at louisa.samson@otago.ac.nz and arrange an alternative time to attend an enrolment and orientation seminar.


Semester 1: New international student enrolment and orientation seminars

All new incoming international students, except PhD students, must register for a New International Student enrolment and orientation seminar before they arrive on campus. Please register for your seminar by selecting one session below. 

For GEOL 252 and GEOL 334 students going on early field trips: If these times do not suit you, please email louisa.samson@otago.ac.nz as soon as possible to arrange an alternative time to attend an enrolment and orientation seminar.

Please note, if you are studying through one of the Study Abroad Institutes: IFSA, Arcadia, ISA, TEAN, BCA or API, do not register for a seminar. You will be advised of the time and location of your special group welcome by your institute.

You are required to bring your passport with you to the enrolment and orientation seminar, and if you have an electronic visa please also bring a paper copy of that visa.

Following the seminar you should be able to complete your ‘Declaration’ (the final step of enrolment) in eVision. The day after completing your declaration you can obtain your Student ID card and will then have access to University services.

Masters or PhD students 

If you are a new international PhD or Masters by thesis student, please check in at the International Office Reception upon your arrival. Bring your passport and visa with you.

An appointment will be arranged for you to meet with a member of the International Student Support Team who will cover arrival information, assist with completing your enrolment, and answer any questions you may have at that time. You will have an opportunity to sign up for the next PhD/Master by Thesis Welcome session. These sessions are run twice a month.
