How To Apply For An NSFAS As A Tvet Student
Before one can apply for NSFAS as a student, one needs to have and also provide the following necessities,
- Certified original copy of ID
- Proof of registration
- Proof of residence
- Latest school/college results
- Parent(s)’/guardian(s)’ proof of income
- Affidavit in case of unemployment
- Proof of Transport and Accommodation
Additionally: In order to facilitate access to the National Certificate (Vocational) qualification, the Department of Higher Education and Training has made bursaries available. The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) administers the bursaries on behalf of the Department of Higher Education and Training.

Who may apply for the DoE TVET College bursary scheme?
- Registered students for the new National Certificate Vocational Programmes (NQF Level 2 – 4)
- A South African citizen
- In need of financial assistance with the necessary proof
- Able to demonstrate potential for academic success
- without parents i.e. an orphan;
- unemployed parents;
- being a member of a family headed by a single parent or a single legal guardian with an annual income of less than R12 000 per year; and
- employed parents with a joint net income of less than R10 000 per month.

-Please visit the NSFAS website – nsfas.org.za or follow the link on our website – https://www.ehlanzenicollege.co.za/
-You may also choose to visit any Buffalo City TVET College Campus – Student Support Service for assistance.
-Please ensure that you have the correct documents (certified not older than 3 months) in electronic format available.
- Your South African ID or a birth certificate( if you do not have a green bar-coded ID or smart ID card)
- ID of parents and/or guardian or death certificate where applicable.
– Pay advice/letter of employment/ pension advice stating income of parents and/or guardian (SASSA slips are not
required and SASSA should not be included as household income
-Please ensure that you download the CONSENT FORM and that it is completed by your parent/s and or guardian – this
has to be attached to your Application form – see flip-side for details
