NSFAS is a government entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training established according to the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999) to provide financial support to disadvantaged students who wish to further their studies at public universities or TVET colleges.

How do I check my Nsfas status?

Step 1: If you would like to check the status of your NSFAS application, please visit the NSFAS website. Click on the MyNSFAS account and log in with your ID and the password you created during your application.

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY

1. Provide your own cellphone number and email address
2. You must have a copy of your ID or birth certificate
3. National ID copies of parents, guardians or spouse
4. The evidence of your income or 1 year’s IRP5 if necessary
5. The proof of income of your parents, guardian or spouse.
6. If you are a SASSA grant recipient, you don’t need to provide any evidence of income.
7. All Applicants with a disability should provide and submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
8. An applicant who is known as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.
