Sekhukhune TVET College Nsfas Application
The National Student Financial Aid Plan is a government support scheme for South African students which offers financial support to deprived undergraduate learners to pay for the cost of their tertiary education after completing high school. The Department of Higher Education and Training is funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training.
Nsfas Open Date
Nsfas Online Application Opens on 1 September and closes on November 302022.
Applicants who are approved for NSFAS funding are covered by the following:
- Registration
- Tuition
- Food
- Accommodation or transport
- Learning material
- Personal care
Will the bursary fund cover all eligible students who apply?
- The bursary does not cover all students in the college due to the limited bursary funding available.
- Do students who are awarded bursaries have to pay the money back after the completion of their studies?
- TVET College students do not have to pay the money back as it is a bursary allocation and not a loan.
Who is eligible for the TVET College Bursary Scheme?
- A South African Citizen,
- Registered or intend to register for NCV or NATED (Report 191) Programme,
- In need of financial assistance,
- Able to demonstrate potential for academic success.

The following documents are to be submitted by students when applying for a bursary.
- 4 certified copies of the student’s ID
- Both parents/ Guardian’s Certified ID copies
- Both parents/ Guardian proof of income (latest payslips/pension card/child support grant card)
- Sworn affidavit by parents/guardian if unemployed
- Certified copy of death certificates in the event that mother and/or father are deceased
- Proof of address (utility bill or letter from Councilor)
- Certified copy of your landlord’s ID copy if renting private accommodation.

- Drop and Go: Manual Applications at Local NYDA Offices
- Isibindi Programme (Social Worker Support Via Outreach Team)
Compulsory Documents
1. Consent Form: Download, complete, and sign the form
2. SA Identity Document: Certified copy ID(not older than 3 months, Certified copies of parent/s or guardian ID or Death certificate
3. Proof of Income: Only if the non-SASSA recipient
4. PWD(Persons with Disability): Complete the disability form (Annexure A)
To all current TVET college students, who are not funded by NSFAS, but intend to apply for NSFAS assistance for the 2019 academic year
All the above-mentioned students – including those who were previously on a government-funded bursary program not offered by NSFAS – can apply for NSFAS financial assistance for the 2019 academic year from 01 September 2018 to 30 November 2018.
To apply on the NSFAS website, you will be required to register first to create your personal online account, and then proceed to fill out and submit the application form online.
You may need about 30 minutes to complete this online process, and must also have scanned copies of the following required attachments:
• Matric Certificate
• Identity Document/Birth Certificate
• Last Academic Results
• Proof of parent’s income (If parent/s employed)
• Death Certificate/s (If parent/s deceased)
• Doctor’s Certificate (If permanently disabled)
