Update on NSFAS allowances
What’s up with NSFAS | The following payment arrangements have been made for NSFAS-funded students who qualify for living, accommodation, travel and book allowances:
· Book allowances will be paid directly to students via Fundi.
· To ensure other allowances are timeously paid, NSFAS-funded students must apply on the UP student portal, where they will find detailed application guidelines.
Students who need to confirm their funding status for 2023 should contact Mr Tshisi Masotsha (tshisi.masotsha@up.ac.za). Payments will be processed once all documents have been verified.
We encourage all NSFAS-funded students to visit the NSFAS website regularly to familiarise themselves with the NSFAS guidelines to ensure timeous payment of allowances.
NSFAS has announced that from 1 June 2023, all allowances will be paid directly into students’ NSFAS-approved bank accounts and that it intends to take over full control of the payment of allowances going forward.
