NSFAS was established in terms of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Act 56 of 1999). The aim of NSFAS is to provide financial aid to eligible students at public TVET colleges and public universities;

NSFAS exists to provide financial support to prospective students at public TVET colleges and public universities;

NSFAS identifies qualified students, provides bursaries, and collects past student loan repayments to replenish the funds available for future generations of students; and

NSFAS supports access to, and success in, higher education and training for students from poor and working-class families who would otherwise not be able to afford to study

The Nsfas Online Application Opens on 1 September and closes on November 302022.

Who qualifies?

• Only South African citizens are eligible for the NSFAS
• A student must be registered or intend to register to study at a TVET college
• Applicants will qualify for funding if they fall within the maximum threshold of up to R350,000 of combined gross family income per annum;
• Returning students (studied prior to 2018) will qualify if they fall within the maximum threshold of up to R122,000 of combined gross family income per annum
