No late Applications will be accepted because the closing date for NSFAS 2022 Applications has been extended by the Management. The deadline for applications for student financial aid has been extended to Friday, January 212022.

The previous deadline was Friday, January 072022. The application process started on November 02. 2022 and to date, more than 600 000 applications were received from applicants who intend to further their post-school education at any of the 50 TVET colleges and 26 public universities.

How do I apply for NSFAS 2022?

To qualify for NSFAS funding you must be:
A South African Citizen;
SASSA grant recipients (the SASSA COVID-19 grant does not count); Persons whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per
year; Persons living With disabilities With a combined household income not more than R600 000 per annum_
A permanent resident—An individual who is in possession of a valid Permanent Residency Permit issued by the Department Of Home Affairs in South Africa. Supporting document required:
All applicants must provide a copy of their ID document. Smart ID cards: a copy with both sides of the smart 10 must be provided.

Non-SASSA applicants must provide ID copies of parents, legal guardian/guardian, or spouses:

4. Proof of income: applicant and/or parents/legal guardian/spouse (where applicable (non-SASSA) should provide latest payslip, not older 3 months, UIF letter, appointment letter, retrenchment letter (applicant and/or parent(s), legal guardian/spouse).

5. Person with disabilities: to complete Disability Annexure A form.

Once your funding application becomes successful, NSFAS will cover your costs for:

• Accommodation
• Transport
• Living allowance
• Book allowance
• Incidental/personal care allowance

If you are studying at the University of South Africa (UNISA) you will receive funding for:
Tuition

Books (subject to the number of modules registered)

Personal care allowance

How to Apply for NSFAS Online 2022

If you would like to apply for NSFAS 2022, follow the steps outlined below:

1. You have to visit the NSFAS website: www.nsfas.org.za online
2. Then, you have to click on the “myNSFAS” tab
3. After that, you create your myNSFAS account
4. After creating myNSFAS account, you then have to click on the “Apply” tab
5. Answer the following questions you see on your screen
6. Update all your personal information
7. Upload all the required supporting documents
8. Lastly, Click on “Submit” to send your application for review.
