Which field of study is your first choice?

NSFAS covers students who attend or hope to attend public Universities and TVET colleges, but which courses does the bursary not fund? The National Student Financial Aid Scheme, also known as NSFAS, administers bursaries in partnership with the government to help students reach their full potential through furthering their studies.

These are the courses NSFAS does not Fund;

  1. Short courses
  2. Courses that are offered at a private college or private higher education institution.
  3. Part-time studies
  4. Postgraduate studies
  5. Second degrees

NSFAS will not fund students who want to enroll in any of these courses. They may, however, submit a request for money from other sources. These sources include student loans from South African banks and Fundi Educational Loans. Fundi specializes in educational loans to help students cover their tuition fees and any other expenses involved during studying.
